Causes and Preventions of Blood Pressure



Blood pressure comes from hypertension. Blood pressure is actually the force protracted against the walls of the arteries as the blood flows. A raise in the blood pressure means that the walls of the arteries are receiving great pressure. The pressure must be chronically elevated in order to confirm the diagnosis of hypertension.
What is Normal Blood Pressure?
Blood pressure reading has the top number (systolic) and the bottom number (diastolic). The normal ranges are:
Normal
Less than 120 over 80 that is 120/80.
Prehypertension
120-139 over 80-89.
Rise in blood pressure (stage 1)
140-159 over 90-99
Rise in blood pressure (stage 2)
160 over and above 100
People having blood pressure above the normal range must consult their respective doctors and must follow certain steps to lower it.

The exact causes of the rise in blood pressure are not known, but the factors and the conditions that play the role in its development are:
  • Smoking
  • Being obese or overweight
  • Too much of salt in your diet
  • Lack of physical activity
  • Too much of alcohol consumption
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Family history of high blood pressure
  • Thyroid and Adrenal disorders

  • Lose your weight mainly in the waistline. Blood pressure increases the weight. You need to lose 10 pounds which will help you to reduce blood pressure. The more weight you lose, the lower will be your blood pressure.
  • Regular physical activity for at least 30 to 60 minutes can easily lower your blood pressure. If you are not active, you have to increase the exercise level in order to lower your blood pressure in a few weeks.
  • You have to take healthy diet, like grains, vegetables, fruits and the low-fat dairy products which will help you to lower your blood pressure.
  • You have to reduce sodium in your diet, which can reduce the blood pressure by 2 to 8Hg.
  • Alcohols can be both good and bad for health. In the small amounts, it can lower your blood pressure by 2 to 5 mm Hg. But, if you drink much, more than one drink every day, then it can harm your health.
  • In today’s high-tech world, it’s very important to manage your stress. Some people have the habits of coping up with the stress by unhealthy foods drinking and smoking that can raise the risk of high blood pressure and can lead to heart attack.
  • Smoking increases high blood pressure. So, people who smoke have to quit the habit immediately. Each cigarette that you smoke increases your blood pressure for several minutes after your finish.

Precautions

People having high blood pressure must make changes in their lifestyle in order to treat high blood pressure. These mainly include precautions, like eating less red meat, salt, fats and eating more vegetables and fruits. Exercises are very important, but you must discuss the limitations with the doctor. Smoking is not at all advisable, as it hardens the arteries. Intake of alcohol must also be limited, especially people having high blood pressure.
